Istanbul

Hello  again. I hope the Holidays are going well so far, and that maybe Santa brought just what you were asking for. I am now coming down from the high of my vacation to Istanbul, which is where I spent Christmas! To say that Turkey was anything less than life changing would be an understatement. The food, the scenery, the people are all amazing. It is so hard to put it into words so here are a few pictures from the trip...hopefully this will explain a little better.

I was so sad to leave Turkey, and even now I am plotting my trip back! For now its all love from London.
See you in 2012!!

Winter Wonderland

It the holiday season again!! Feeling quite cheery, tonight a group of schoolmates and I made our way to Hyde Park and got swept up in the joys of Winter Wonderland! The holiday carnival hosts carft stalls, festive food and drink, and also carni rides! Every little kid's (and big kid's) dream

So excited for the snow!
(perfect time for the lavender scarf I finished a few weeks ago)

My mulled wine- to make me a little warmer and a little "cheerier"

I thought the ferris wheel looked so beautiful... but my friends and I settled on something a bit more high speed...

Bumper Cars!!!

After the cars it was time to eat. I had a delicious bratswurst sausage and a chimney cake...I'll spare you two awkward pictures of me eating

The last thrill of the night was a ride in the tea cups.
My favorite ride as a child revived as an adult

Leaving happy, full, and a bit exhausted means that it was a very worthwhile night frolicking through Winter Wonderland.

Happy Holidays!

Market Madness

Hi Lovers! The stress of the end of the term is gone now and Winter Break is FINALLY here!! To celebrate my first day of holiday freedom I decided to go on a market crawl. My three course market meal started with the pop-up Christmas market at More London near Tower Bridge. There were some cute trinkets and homemade items at the stall, but I was really just warming up for my next stop.

I continued down the Themes walk to what is probably my favorite market in London so far... Borough Market. Borough is a Foodie's heaven and I love going and eating my way from stall to stall

Some other goodies I found include an AMAZING lamb and mint burger and Christmas beer from one of my favorite stalls Utobeer!

Full from Borough but ready for dessert, my next stop was Spitalfields Market in Shoreditch! Pictured below is the iconic Christ Church just across the street from Spitalfields.

A busy Spitalfields with all the Christmas shoppers

My last purchase of the day came from this giant pile of scarves...
...I found these lovelies for just £1 each!

Back on my side of town and just one more picture of Tower Bridge to bring my day full circle....
Such a wonderful and leisurely day was the perfect start to what I hope will be an adventurous Winter break. I have some great trips planned and I can't wait to share them with you. Til next time!

Thanksgiving in London

Although I am no stranger to spending Thanksgiving away from my family, I was worried this year that the holiday would be silently bypassed altogether. Most thankfully, however, a few people from my building came together to put on a proper Thanksgiving in London.

Top Chef:
My contribution to dinner was the Macaroni and Cheese

With my flatmates heading to dinner...everyone was so proud of their dish

The spread!

 Happy....and full guests

And the night would not have been complete without some paper hand turkey's

One of the best Thanksgivings ever!

Sunday Treasures

I got the knit itch today and decided to get out and find a yarn shop. I ended up in Islington on a back street that turned out to be a hidden treasure. There was a wonderful mini vintage/ antique market.
 Perfect on a chill Sunday

About half way down the passage I found Loop. The kid in the candy store feeling every time.

Felt like some early trick-or-treating

On my way back down the street I couldn't help but stop at a few of the market stalls. I fell in love with this vintage cigarette case. Or was it a wallet??

After such a leisurely day it was great to come home and play around with my purchases.

Evening Playlist
Yeah yeah yeahs
Little Dragon
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.

I'll have a beautiful Lilac scarf in no time.

I'm backkkk! Wow... its been WAYYYY too long!! The hiatus is officially over though, and I'm ready to pick it up like I never put it down!!! So let's catch up... Fall is in full swing now and the new season has brought so many changes for me. I did a little hop, skip, and a jump across the pond and moved to London. I'm in LOVE. Now that the unease of a new place has worn off a bit its time to get back to doing a few of my favorite things (you already know!). I can't wait to share my adventures with you and see where this year takes me. Let the good times roll.
